Simpson tops PUC, advances to finals

It was a win-or-go home battle between the #2 and #3 seeds in game 2 of the semifinals. Simpson advanced to the finals in dramatic fashion as they swept Pacific Union in straight sets 3-0 (25-22, 25-20, 26-24).

The score doesn't show the intensive back and forth of the match that could have gone either way. There were dozens of ties throughout the match but the Red Hawks made the plays down the stretch to pull out every set.

Freshman Dehryn Brown led both teams in kills with 15. He also had 10 digs and one assist for 16.5 points. Akira Davies added 13 kills and 4 digs and setter Tyce Nakamura had 32 assists and 4 digs for Simpson.

Tristen Miller led the Pioneers with 12 kills and 8 digs which resulted in 14 points. Ethan Durns and JV Cruzado each had 14 assists.

#2 Simpson will face #1 Westcliff at 3:00pm which decides the winner of the 2026 Cal Pac Men's Basketball Championship and an automatic bid to the NAIA Championships.
