Westcliff Faces #1 Park and #8 OUAZ in NAIA Tourney
Westcliff returns to the NAIA men's volleyball championships as the #9 seed, placed in Pool A along with a pair of familiar foes: #1 Park (MO) and #8 Ottawa (AZ). Westcliff enters the 7TH annual NAIA tourney for the second time, riding a 13-match winning streak.
The Warriors (20-4 overall) open championship play on April 28 in Des Moines, IA, with a tough challenge as they face the top seed Park, Mo., (31-0) at 7:00 p.m. (CDT) at Alliance Energy Pavilion.
They'll tangle with OUAZ (20-5 overall) on April 29, also at 7:00 p.m. (CDT).
Westcliff split two regular season matchups with OUAZ with both matches going as 3-0 sweeps. The Spirit took the first meeting in Arizona before the Warriors returned the favor in California when OUAZ was ranked #9. Cal Pac player of the year Gabriel Pizza had 13 kills in the match, and WU hit a whopping .345
Westcliff's meeting with Park (MO) was a 3-1 loss back on January 24 in Missouri.
The winner of Pool A advances into the semifinals on May 1.
Westcliff made the NAIA field in 2024, going 1-1. Cal Pac teams have fared well in the NAIA event, going a collective 13-7 with a trio of championship final visits. No Cal Pac team has won the MVB NAIA title. Yet.
