2026 DR. JAMES DAVIES AWARD – Andrea Maidan, Pacific Union College
The California Pacific Conference directors of athletics named Andrea Maidan of Pacific Union College as the 2026 Dr. James Davies female scholar-athlete of the year award winner. The honor is bestowed on one exceptional student-athlete who's academic, community and athletic achievements stand out among those who have completed their degrees and sports careers in the Cal Pac.
Maidan, a biology major with a 3.90 grade point average, took the Cal Pac women's cross country individual championship in 2025 with a winning margin of over 3 minutes. As the first female individual champ and Cal Pac "runner of the year" in PUC history, she advanced to represent the Pioneers at the NAIA national championship race.
The Dr. James Davies award is named in honor of the Cal Pac's founding and long-time eligibility chair. Jim served the conference with a passion for supporting the student-athletes in achieving their academic goals. Along with his lifelong dedication to higher education, he both lived out and emphasized the NAIA's values as a true champion of character until his sudden passing in 2015.
