NNMC Men's Hoops Posts Decade-High 132
In a week featuring high scores by Cal Pac men's basketball teams, Northern New Mexico posted the highest mark of the season by rolling over Navajo Tech, 132-72, in its home finale. The point total was the most at NNMC since at least 2015.
The Eagles (7-9 overall, 3-1 Cal Pac) were led by a trio of 20-point performances. TJ Sanchez poured in 28 points in 28 minutes of court time, super-sub Jesus Mendoz bombed in 23 off the bench hitting 7-of-8 three-pointers in just 11 minutes of action, and Tre Morinia chipped in 21.
NNMC scored 73 points in the first half, eclipsing the Skyhawks' game total (72). The Eagles shot 54% from the field, including a whopping 45% on threes. If there was a downside…NNMC made only 1 free throw (1-of-9) for the game.
Northern New Mexico finishes out the regular season with three road games before heading to the Cal Pac tournament later this month with the next contest a return bout against Navajo Tech next Friday the 13th.
