UCM’s Manjrekar Earns All-American Honors

UC Merced's Sharvin Manjrekar capped an outstanding junior season with a 24:33 run at the NAIA National Championship on the Gans Creek Cross Country Course in Columbia, Mo., crossing the finish line in 30th place in a field of 326 of the nation's top runners.  Manjrekar, running in his third consecutive national event, earned NAIA All-American recognition for his Top 40 finish.  His 24:33 mark was not only a personal best, but it is the fastest time recorded in the California Pacific Conference this season and the ninth-best of all time.   UCM, which qualified as a team for the first time, finished 31st of 36 teams.

Soka's Andre Souza also turned in a strong performance, finishing with a 24:57 effort that placed him 66th in the field and one second off the time he registered to win the Cal Pac Championship individual title.  Souza's teammates Jordan Bravo and Naoki Kasai ran times of 25:53 and 28:24, respectively.  The other Cal Pac individual qualifier, Simpson's Cade Salsedo, crossed in 28:08.
