WU Sweeps LSU in Weekend Series

Westcliff bounced back from two losses to No. 6 Georgia Gwinnett on Wednesday with four consecutive wins over La Sierra on Friday and Saturday.  The Warriors rode the durable right arm of Madison Mendez, who threw four complete games to even her season record at 12-12 with a 2.38 earned run average.  Mendez allowed just five runs over 26 innings in the circle while striking out 11.  She delivered 370 pitches over the course of the series and wrapped it all up by striking out the side to close out the final inning of Saturday's nightcap.  The WU offense produced 20 runs in the four games, pounding out 40 hits against Golden Eagle pitching, topped by six off the bat of Lauren Coppla, who also scored three times.  Iyari Ramirez (5x9), Bailey Wallace (5x12), and Alyssa Partlan (5x13) added the hit parade, with Wallace and Partlan contributing three and four RBI, respectively.
