2024 All-Cal Pac Women’s Soccer Teams
For the first time in California Pacific Conference history, none of the recipients of this year's individual awards had earned any all-conference recognition in previous seasons. But that anomaly in no way suggests that the 2024 selections are less deserving, especially when considering the impact each had on their teams reaching the postseason this Fall.
Co-Cal Pac champion Westcliff had three players and their coach earn individual recognition after posting an undefeated season—the first in program history. Junior forward Jysabella Tolentino was voted the Player of the Year by Cal Pac coaches since she provided a lot of the offense for a team that outscored opponents 49-2 over 12 matches. The Reseda, Calif., native led the conference with 14 goals and 29 points, putting up a league-bests in shots (62) and shots on goal (34).
UCM midfielder Yareli Hernandez was named the top Offensive Player of the Year this season. The senior from Stockton, Calif., led a balanced offensive attack for the Bobcats, finishing with 13 goals and 27 points on the year, both ranking second in the conference, and netted four game-winners, which tied for the most in the Cal Pac.
For all of the offensive power the Warriors produced, the defense was just as dominant, which led to Cal Pac coaches naming Kayli Cokley the Defensive Player of the Year. The junior keeper from Folsom, Calif., led the conference with a Save Percentage of .900 while allowing a miserly 0.21 goals per match—the lowest season average in Cal Pac history.
The Cal Pac Newcomer of the Year is WU's Jordyn Gather, a grad student defender from Ladera Ranch, Calif. In addition to her pivotal role on the defensive end, Gather contributed three goals and three assists on the offensive side.
Soka's Jonalynn Valles was selected the conference's Freshman of the Year. The forward from Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., helped the Lady Lions reach the conference playoffs with strong first season, netting four goals and adding two assists.
After leading his team to a share of the regular season title, WU's Jack Gidney was named for the first time by his peers as the top coach in the Cal Pac in 2024.
While all the 2024 individual selections were first-timers, quite a few Cal Pac players garnered multiple season honors this Fall. UCM's Yesenia Tijerina and Katy Flores were both First Team selections in 2023 and 2024. Simpson's Isabella Baez and Denise Elias-Martinez were voted to the First Team in 2024 as well as Second Team honors in 2023. WU's Alberte Angersbach, a 2024 First Team selection, was voted to the Second Team in 2021. UCM's Preeya Singh, and Honorable Mention in 2023, was voted to the First Team in 2024. SU's Chloe Tague earned Second Team distinction in 2023 and 2024. WU's Jaida Wilson and Providence Christian's Isabella Pecunes were Second Team picks in 2024 after being Honorable Mentions in 2023. Soka's Cienna Irwin flipped that recognition, earning Honorable Mention in 2024 and Second Team in 2023, as well as Second Team honors in 2021. Soka's Ashley Aranda was named to the Second Team in 2024 and was Honorable Mention in 2022.
