It took 110 minutes and eight penalty kicks in a shootout, but Westcliff maintained its undefeated status in a marathon battle with Hope International and advanced into the Second Round of the NAIA National Championship at Caldwell, Ida. The Warriors (12-0-3) advance in the postseason and will face bracket host College of Idaho on Saturday, Nov. 23, at 11:00 a.m. PT. The Yotes (17-0-2), the Cascade Conference regular season and tournament champion, are ranked No. 10 in the NAIA.

The Warriors, the California Pacific Conference regular season co-champion and postseason tournament winner, played HIU to a scoreless draw over the first 110 minutes despite a disadvantage in shots (21-6) and corner kicks (5-3). WU keeper Kayli Cokley, the Cal Pac Defensive Player of the Year, was up to the challenge and saved all six of the Royals' shots on goal—setting the tone for the shootout that would decide which team's postseason run would stay alive.
Both teams made their first seven kicks in the shootout, but the Royals' Larissa Perez missed on the team's eighth shot, opening the door for Jazlyn Arevalo, who converted the game-winner that extended WU's stellar season.
